In this advert of WaterAid, the boy connotes  being sad, poor, or having no water. This can show the boy is effected because of his facial expression in the advert. It shows he is sad and that he is poor of money. "Dig toilets Not graves" can show that people need to start digging toilets more because it would help and it would be better than digging graves. 

This is effective because it shows that it connotes and what the advert is about. This can help people understand the advert and help.
